Bye Bye Plastic Bags is an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) from Bali. They have contributed to tackling environmental crises, especially in reducing plastic waste. The organization was born from the awareness of two young girls named Isabel and Melati Wijsen towards the problem of single-use plastic waste that is getting worse due to the impacts of Bali’s uncontrolled tourism industries. They dared to dream of a Bali free from plastic waste and invited residents and the government to stop using plastic bags.

Bye Bye Plastic Bags has now expanded to 60 cities around the world led by other young people who also want to participate in bringing the message of saying no to plastic bags globally. The mission of Bye Bye Plastic Bags is to educate people through workshops, presentations, and booklets so that more people realize the effects of plastic waste on our beloved earth. They have been acknowledged by Forbes‘s Top Young Entrepreneurs Under 30 Asia in 2020 and Time‘s 25 Most Influential Teens of 2018, where Greta Thunberg, NCT Dream, and Billie Eilish are on the Time‘s list.
