Indonesia Feminist is a forum formed by a group of Indonesian women who are concerned about gender justice issues in Indonesia. Not only Indonesia is known as a patriarchal country, which means that men are considered higher or more important than women, but its society tends to respond negatively to issues of gender and sexual diversity. For this reason, this forum was formed with one mission, namely to foster gender, sexual, and class consciousness.
According to their website, there are three main programs carried out, namely Santuy Bareng Puan, Ruang Baca Saudari, and Women’s Political Agenda. Santuy Bareng Puan is an offline discussion series held almost every month to discuss the latest issues that impact women’s livelihoods. Ruang Baca Saudari is an online book discussion series to increase women’s reading literacy towards books written by women. Finally, Agenda Politic Perempuan is a working group that formulates a common women’s political agenda in local areas.
